This is a work of art by a fine German craftsman who now lives in the USA. His work can be found in museums in Germany and the US. He developed the concept of the story box which portrays animals in their regional environment.
The back of this beautifully crafted Elephant opens to reveal 14 mini hardwood animals and trees that would be found where an elephant lives in the wild. Each piece is made of a unique exotic wood. Several pieces are gently enhanced with soft color.
This is a fabulous puzzle and scene which could inspire many stories and lots of creative play. It makes a wonderful gift for a child 6 through adulthood. Great desk gift for an adult. 8 1/2" by 7" by 2 1/4".
