I had an old deck that the previous owners did not take care of and just painted over it before we bought it. It was not a great place for the kids to run around on because of the chance of splinters and because of the paint, it got really hot in the sun.I thought about replacing the deck entirely but that was just too costly for us with our budget. We decided to go with artificial turf instead. This was within our budget and as you can see looks great! It feels so soft and the kids love it. They have been wanting to go outside every day since I installed it. The turf was even thicker than I thought and really looks like grass.I installed it all in one day. All I did was use some double sided turf tape on the edges and some sealing tape for where the rugs meet each other. I used a box cutter to cut the edges to fit my deck and that was it.I'm very happy with the quality of this product and it's better than I even imagined! The only con I can think of is that in the sun at certain times of day the turf can get too hot for bare feet. But I'm the Texas sun it would be the same for a wood deck or a cement deck for that matter. When I was younger we had a fake turf installed on our balcony, but that was about 15 years ago, and times have changed and technology has evolved. Now this turf is at least three times as thick and lush, and so much softer. I bought a roll of the 10'x6', and cut it up to apply two of them side by side to fit a portion of the balcony area nearest the door. I had my brother's puppies over to test it, and it's worked like a charm. Usually, they would go outside to the balcony to just roam around, but would never stay long. With this, it's like their own mini-park setting, so now they've taken their food and toys out here to chew, and sometimes to bask in the sun. I've sat on it and played with them, and it's soft and lush like a house carpet. I have a slight allergy to grass, where my skin gets itchy when I roll around in it sometimes while playing soccer (not the dive and roll around in fake pain kind). I tested it and since this is plastic, I don't get any allergic reactions. I can even use the squirt sweeper to clean it sometimes, and I've even tried the vacuum, and both work fine. The only question remains is how long the plastic strands will last before they start breaking off. If the longevity fails I will update my review, but for now the quality is high. You can check my photos for real life samples of how it looks like.Use an indoor mat for Dribble-Up soccer workouts for kids. The turf appears of fair quality, however, the 4x6 was actually 3.5 x 5.5. I needed minimum 4 feet; had to return.Would you bend a photograph in half, just so you could fit it in a smaller (cheaper) envelope? But don't worry, with added help from you, you'll be able to make those bend marks go away in due time with plenty of effort. AND SANTA CLAUS IS REAL!They rolled up my rug widthwise, then FOLDED IT IN HALF, to fit in a smalerl box. However, if they had just transported the rug like any other rug, rolling it widthwise, if would have been accepted by UPS/FEDEX size standards without ever folding the rug! Did I miss something?Ease of use and cleaning, dogs love it and will ONLY use this as the go to spot.........Love it!!!Grass soft and as expected! It does get hot in sun unfortunately.
